Sacred Moments

We all have moments in life when the Kingdom of God feels so real you could almost touch it. Moments of such significance, it’s as if they are engraved on your heart. When you feel Heaven’s touch – at the Wedding, the birth of a child, the Baptism. Other significant times – an answered prayer over a job or a house sale, a healing. They become sacred moments – memorials of significant times in your faith. They become part of your testimony, often recalled and remembered. They’re times when you clearly see the hand of God on your life.

But there are other moments. Those moments in worship, when you feel your spirit connect with God. When He deposits something in your spirit – courage maybe, a dream perhaps or the strong awareness of His love and grace for you. Times too when in your quiet time a Scripture impacts you so much and you realise that you’re not just reading the Bible but that you are in conversation with the Lord. Other moments as we go about our ordinary days and we sense God’s whisper of love, we witness God’s glory in the nature around us.

The presence of God, the evidence of the Kingdom of Heaven being at hand, is all around us – in our ordinary, seemingly insignificant days. He’s there in the work and chores, the mundane, as much as when we stand before Him at the wedding ceremony. He’s there in the regular and the small.

The ordinary is the extraordinary when it is a life lived with God. When we remember that the Kingdom of God is within us as much as around us.

“Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” (Luke 17:20-21)
